🚆 Following the Prime Minister and Taoiseach’s commitment to share expertise on infrastructure delivery, the British Embassy brought colleagues from the Department of Transport, National Transport Authority and Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail to Cardiff to see the delivery of the Core Valley Lines and South Wales Metro first-hand. As Ireland advances major rail investment plans, UK-Ireland collaboration can help deliver better outcomes for passengers and communities. 🚉This week, the UK-Ireland Infrastructure Steering Group met in Dublin to attend the Accelerating Infrastructure Conference and exchange ideas on delivering modern, sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Established by the Prime Minister and Taoiseach at the first UK-Ireland Summit in Liverpool, the Steering Group brings together government and industry leaders to share expertise, best practice and lessons learned from major projects. Alongside updates on Ireland's infrastructure reform agenda, delegates explored opportunities for closer collaboration, before continuing the conversation at the British Ambassador's Residence. Statement by the British Ambassador to Ireland, Kara Owen, on the passing of Martin Naughton.

What do the Ambassador’s Residence, a Royal Navy warship and Louth have in common? These are all places where some of the most interesting conversations happened last month. June saw Ambassador Kara Owen host one of the biggest diplomatic events of the year before swapping dry land for the deck of HMS Somerset for a reception at sea. We welcomed Minister James Frith MP to Dublin, saw Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Helen McEntee travel to London, and spent the month discussing everything from offshore wind and economic resilience to the future of UK-Ireland cooperation. Earlier this week, James Frith MP visited Dublin for a series of engagements with partners across business and government. 🤝 He met with Irish companies including ID-Pal and Version 1 to explore opportunities for closer UK–Ireland collaboration on digital innovation, AI and future growth sectors. A roundtable with the British Irish Chamber of Commerce brought together leaders from business, research and professional services to discuss research and innovation, digital identity, and developments in the UK–EU landscape. The programme also included meetings with Minister Neale Richmond and Minister Frank Feighan, providing an opportunity to strengthen cooperation on economic and digital policy. Good to be in Manchester this week for #GlobalOffshoreWind, convening UK and Irish stakeholders to discuss the floating and deep water offshore wind developments and opportunities.
