As EV architectures evolve, power conversion is no longer a fixed design choice. On-board charger and DC/DC converter topologies are rapidly advancing to meet the demands of higher voltage systems, pushing efficiency, power density, and integration further than before. From traditional two-stage designs to emerging single-stage approaches, these innovations are reshaping how next-generation EV systems are built. In the latest Renesas blog, we explore the topology tradeoffs driving this shift. Discover what these changes mean for your next EV design: https://lnkd.in/eDFzGjhT

It’s 30 minutes before a match, and your combat robot catches fire. What would you do? That’s the scenario Renesas engineer George Tan and Team Valkyrie faced at a BattleBots Pro League competition. With the clock ticking, the team quickly diagnosed the issue, salvaged working components, and rebuilt the entire 250-pound robot from scratch. Not only was their robot able to compete in the match, but Team Valkyrie won the match and ultimately went on to win their entire bracket. It’s an inspiring reminder of what’s possible when engineering, teamwork, and fast decision-making come together. We’re a proud sponsor of Team Valkyrie, and we love supporting our employees’ passion for innovation both in and beyond the workplace. Connecting with students today helps shape the engineers of tomorrow. More than 500 students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering joined us recently for a seminar on the future of automotive chip design. Senior Director Khoa Tran and Senior Manager Kien Pham from our High Performance Computing team shared insights into emerging semiconductor trends in the automotive industry and unpacked the end-to-end chip development workflow. We also hosted tours of our Ho Chi Minh City office to give local students an inside look at our workplace, advanced technologies, and career opportunities in the semiconductor industry. We look forward to continuing our local outreach to guide students in their career exploration. #RenesasRisingTalent #CareersAtRenesas

Looking ahead, our growth strategy is clear, with AI leading the way. At Capital Market Day 2026, CEO, Hidetoshi Shibata, described our AI-driven growth strategy as a rocket encompassing three stages: AI enablement ➡️ AI deployment ➡️ AI as a complement. Each stage is reflected in our secular growth areas: AI Infra & Compute, Physical AI/Software-Defined Vehicle, and Intelligence at the Edge. Zaher Baidas, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Power, expanded on AI Infra & Compute as the first stage of our “rocket” growth strategy, highlighting our broad grid-to-core power portfolio built to meet the increasing power demands of AI: • Digital power to deliver the high power density and thermal efficiency required for next-generation data centers. • Memory interface to maximize compute efficiency and address data bottlenecks. • MCUs for control-plane functions, combined with analog solutions to expand our footprint across AI infrastructure and compute. Together, these efforts increase our visibility into system-level challenges early in the design process, allowing us to provide solutions that stay ahead of customer needs. At the same time, we are expanding access to our tools to a wider audience through our development platform, Renesas 365. Real-world intelligence starts with a strong analog foundation. The analog signal chain is the key to ensuring a precise, accurate robot that operates effectively and safely. To deliver consistently reliable robotics, analog must be treated as a design priority. This means that designers should consider sensing, control, power, and connectivity as a single system from the start. Karthi Gopalan, VP of Business Strategy, shared with RoboticsTomorrow.com how the analog signal chain filters noise and turns real-world signals into digital data to power the next-generation of physical AI systems. Today's developers don't want fewer tools. They want the right ones, all in one place. The Integrated Development Environment once offered an efficient, all-in-one approach, but it was limited to the tools compatible with its host application, pushing developers toward a growing mix of specialized tools instead. What if you didn't have to choose? What if the best tools could work together, seamlessly, within a single environment? That’s exactly what Renesas 365 delivers. Leigh Gawne, Vice President of R&D, Digital Industries, showcases how the platform reimagines the development workflow. Read more from Richard Nass at Embedded Computing Design on the evolving needs of modern developers and how Renesas 365 unlocks new possibilities: https://lnkd.in/gRV55KPJ #digitalization
