To celebrate Father’s Day, we hosted a special MITDC Superhero Father’s Day podcast with the fun theme “Who’s Bad? – Dad Edition”. We didn’t just invite our rockstar dads—we opened the session to all employees who wanted to learn more about fatherhood, and how our amazing dads juggle their careers while being awesome, hands-on fathers. The session was packed with energy, laughter, and heartwarming moments. Each segment brought something unique—from funny dad stories and parenting “fails” that turned into life lessons, to inspiring insights on how our dads show up both at work and at home. 57 MITDC employees took on the challenge to jumpstart or sustain their fitness journey through fun, friendly competition. Over two months, participants in the Transformers and Boosters categories committed to safe, healthy weight loss—achieving a remarkable 104.3 kg total weight reduction (about two sacks of rice!). Weekly challenges, Manulife merchandise prizes, and activities from the Sprinters, Smashers, and Basketball Communities kept everyone moving and motivated. The Top 3 in each category were honored with exciting prizes during the Awarding Ceremony held last June 10, 2026, at the 6th Floor of NEX—celebrating healthier habits, stronger engagement, and workplace camaraderie. The MITDC GWA Core Team recently hosted a meaningful Mother’s Day and Mental Health Lunch and Learn in partnership with Human Dynamic, facilitated by Ms. Giselle. Anchored on the theme “Supporting Mothers’ Well-being: Addressing Guilt, Redefining Strength, and Promoting Self-Care,” the session brought colleagues together to honor mothers, mother figures, and dads who play vital caregiving roles. The program featured an appreciation segment, a mental health talk by Ms. Giselle, and an engaging SLT dialogue with Sunaina Prabhu, Jose Florendo, and Myrna Del Rosario, creating space for reflection, learning, and honest sharing. More than a celebration, the event fostered a safe and supportive environment to acknowledge the realities of caregiving and reinforce empathy, resilience, and self-care in our workplace culture. Last May 20, 2026, we had the privilege of welcoming Kartik Sakthivel, Ph.D. , CIO of John Hancock, and Katharine Manzolini, VP of Technology Solutions Delivery, to our technology and innovation hub—an energizing day that truly showcased the power of collaboration and innovation across our teams. At MITDC, we believe meaningful impact often starts with a simple intention. During Manulife Impact Week—an initiative that empowers employees to give back—Norms Alcantara, MITDC DEI GWA Champion, brought forward a personal commitment to Kythe Foundation Inc.: to create a life celebration activity for pediatric orthopedic patients. Through the Impact Week grant program, this vision became a reality. With the grant approved, volunteers from the GWA Core, PSS DM/SM community, and MBPS colleagues—together with Ynna Del Rosario, MITDC Head of Production Support—visited the Pediatric Orthopedic Ward on May 2. Despite the smaller group, the experience was deeply meaningful. Stories of courage like David and Goliath were shared to inspire the children, especially those awaiting surgery. They also expressed their creativity by painting what a “hero” means to them, using materials from a previous GWA IWD initiative. Through the support of MITDC RISE, meals were provided for the children, their guardians, and hospital staff. Code4Future is one of MITDC’s activities during Impact Week where kids dive into the basics of programming through fun, guided activities. Participants will build simple games and storytelling animations, tackle logic puzzles, and experiment with block-based tools. We’ve invited over 30 kids from our long-time partner St Martin de Porres Street Children Home, Inc. The session emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and computational thinking, helping students understand concepts such as sequences, loops, and conditionals in an engaging, age-appropriate way. Facilitated by trained volunteers, the workshop includes step-by-step demos, hands-on practice, and a showcase of student projects to celebrate learning.
