When access to the energy transition is limited, the consequences are felt inside the home: less comfort, greater electrical safety risks and direct impacts on families’ health and wellbeing. Green Home is helping to change that. Across five countries, the program supports families experiencing energy poverty through electrical upgrades, improved insulation and more efficient lighting solutions, helping create safer, more comfortable and energy-efficient homes. By adapting each intervention to local needs, Green Home is helping improve living conditions and reduce energy inequalities in the communities where EDP operates. In a world where AI is reshaping almost every industry, humans bear a greater responsibility than ever. If intelligence is becoming abundant and accessible to all, the real question is: where do we want to direct it? Answering that requires something far deeper than data - it requires wisdom. To mark EDP’s 50th anniversary, we hosted a thought-provoking conversation at MAAT Central with historian and philosopher Yuval Noah Harari on humanity, progress, and AI. This technological potential is a tool to help us reach our goals, but the power to choose our direction remains human. As we look ahead, our commitment is to use this wisdom to make the right strategic choices, ensuring that, as we imagine the next 50 years, we are actively building a future that serves both humanity and the planet. #EDPWeChooseEarth #EDP50Years #ImaginetheNext50

"The AI revolution is not a year away. The revolution is here." This impactful statement by tech visionary and author Mo Gawdat set the tone at our “Imagine the Next 50” summit in Lisbon, an event designed precisely to discuss the forces shaping the future of energy. During his intervention, Gawdat challenged us to spot the paradoxes of an era where a massive technological leap requires an unprecedented scale of power. Here are the key thought leadership takeaways from his perspective: ➡️ The hype vs. the shock: the true shift of future tech is already here. The coming months will be about how quickly organisations adapt to intuitive, human-like AI interfaces. ➡️ The clean energy mandate: a data-driven world cannot rely on yesterday's grids. As energy requirements surge exponentially, the success of the tech ecosystem will be intrinsically linked to the scale and deployment of renewable energy. ➡️ Leading through uncertainty: navigating this fast-evolving landscape requires ultimate leadership skills. To anchor progress, leaders must be capable of picturing the future while deciding today, operating with deep agility and a strong tolerance for change. As we look toward the next 50 years, Mo Gawdat reminds us that, despite the chaotic nature of this global transition, he is highly optimistic about the future of EDP, highlighting that we have a unique chance to step up and scale the clean grids required to power this massive intelligence utility. #EDPWeChooseEarth #EDP50Years #ImagineTheNext50

Speaking at our "Imagine the Next 50" summit in Lisbon, José Manuel Durão Barroso shared a constructive analysis on how navigating today's fragmented macroeconomic and geopolitical environment requires a decisive shift from strategic diagnosis to rapid operational capacity. Durão Barroso, the former President of the European Commission, emphasised that building true economic resilience is not about introducing more regulation, but about accelerating execution, fostering a growth mindset, and scaling clean infrastructure across deeply integrated markets. Across the regions where EDP operates, this insight directly reinforces our global commitment to driving grid modernisation and clean electrification to secure long-term industrial competitiveness across our global footprint in Europe, South and North America, and Asia-Pacific. As Durão Barroso curiously noted, "wisdom is more necessary than ever" and is particularly vital today as we face global shifts like the rise of AI, where true competitiveness will come from connecting technology with real industrial scale. To guide this transformation, however, we need more than technological tools; we need direction, especially at a time when "good leadership is in short supply." Durão Barroso recalled a powerful historical principle needed to drive real progress: “To quote Cardinal Richelieu: ‘make possible what is necessary’." Because true resilience is built through rapid execution and courageous leadership. #EDPWeChooseEarth #EDP50Years #ImaginetheNext50

Giving back has always been a priority at EDP, helping communities, making a difference in people’s lives and taking care of the planet. We believe that the energy transition can only succeed if it is also fair, inclusive and capable of generating shared value. The recent Time to Give Back initiative showed just how ready our people are to act whenever and wherever it’s needed. Through an unprecedented mobilisation, with more than 200 actions in 16 countries, we surpassed our goal of dedicating 50,000 hours to social and environmental impact projects by our 50th anniversary on June 30. In our latest article, Martim Salgado, Social & Foundations Executive Director at EDP, explains how the Time to Give Back initiative brought together thousands of employees and partners around a shared purpose. As he puts it, “what struck us most was how this challenge was embraced across such different geographies. We set a global ambition, but gave local teams the freedom to create initiatives that were truly meaningful for their own communities. That combination of a common ambition and local implementation was decisive.” Read the full article 👇 and get to know more about this initiative. #EDPWeChooseEarth #EDP50Years #GiveBack

In the last 50 years, EDP has been at the forefront of the energy sector, driven by a purpose to create positive impact for people and the planet, putting communities at the heart of the energy transition wherever we operate. This year, we set a goal of dedicating 50,000 hours of our time to supporting communities through the Time to Give Back initiative, with over 200 social and environmental impact actions across 16 countries. We not only reached our goal, but surpassed it, having dedicated more than 63,000 hours by June 30, the day of our 50th anniversary. This initiative was a tremendous success, not only because of the thousands of employees and partners who contributed their time and skills all around the world, but mainly because of the impact created through the projects and causes we supported. Giving back is not a side project. It is one of the most visible expressions of how we understand our role in the world. As we imagine the next 50 years, one thing remains certain: our commitment to create lasting social and environmental impact. #EDPWeChooseEarth #EDP50Years #GiveBack
